The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center’s motto remains, “At Auburn, we’re family, and our roots run deep.” While the hotel was founded in 1988, it provides a historical glimpse into the city’s past, most notably Auburn University, one of the largest, most prestigious campuses in the South. The hotel itself reigns as a unique Alabama getaway—one that provides ample sophistication, first-class hospitality, and a gateway to downtown’s village feel.

The Hotel and Conference Center’s Story

While most hotels are owned by large corporations or wealthy families, The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center is proud to be a college-owned establishment. Depending on the season, the hotel boasts anywhere from 180 to 250 employees, many of which are students across all majors. What started as a good idea around the turn of the century has blossomed into the ultimate Alabama getaway destination, as well as one of the state’s only AAA Four-Diamond hotels.

Today, The Hotel at Auburn University allures alumni, proud parents, vendors, and Auburn Tiger fans alike. Ariccia Cucina Italiana and Piccolo are outstanding food and beverage destinations within the hotel. The future is incredibly bright, especially with our collaborative efforts with the Hospitality Program at Auburn University.

The Auburn University Connection

Besides the hotel’s moniker, The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center’s campus roots run deep, ranging from pre-game brunch, the Camp War Eagle parent program, and recurring alumni events at the conference center. We’ve enjoyed a long-standing connection to the university’s College of Human Sciences and the Hospitality Management Program, a natural fit. Meanwhile, Ariccia Cucina Italiana was named after an idyllic town in Italy, home to the Joseph S. Bruno Auburn Abroad in Italy program, where the streets near Rome serve as a classroom for so many lucky students.

Many travelers are surprised to discover that we’re pet-friendly, even though the hotel is undoubtedly opulent in every way. However, the hotel serves as a resting place for visitors of the dazzling Wilford & Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital, one of the country’s leading animal health care facilities. Typically, more than half of our team are university students, many of which apply because of the hands-on learning environment that goes hand in hand with a career in hospitality management.

Historic Lobby Art

Don’t forget to rub our bronze War Eagle’s nose for good luck before and after your stay. You’ll no doubt discover the hotel’s enthralling lobby art, a series of photographs that outline the university’s fascinating history. Photos include the 1940s train station, a shot of the faculty in the 1890s, Samford Hall set in the early 1920s, the original War Eagle (purchased for $10), and a 1913 still of a Toomer’s Drugs employee.
