What Is The Tuskegee National Forest?

The Tuskegee National Forest is a U.S. National Forest located west of Auburn. It’s special because it is the smallest national forest in the U.S., covering more than 11,200 acres. Even with its small size, there are many recreational activities to explore.

What Can I Do There?

Unlike other national forests, there aren’t sprawling hiking trails due to its small size, but that doesn't mean they don’t pack in many interesting sights and activities. One of the longer trails through the forest is the 8.5 miles on The Bartram National Recreation Trail. If you are looking for something shorter, Pleasant Hill Trail is only four miles long, and great for bicyclists. There are other trails in the forest, too, which all give you ample opportunities to see a variety of wildflowers and wildlife. You should also stop by the Taska Recreation Area, a wonderful afternoon picnic place.
