THE TOP ALABAMA BREWERIES NEAR AUBURN

Friends drinking beer

As the recent craft beer boom sweeps the nation, crowd-pleasing Central Alabama breweries are popping up in surrounding communities. While we wait patiently for the very first Auburn brewery, beer aficionados must trek to the neighboring city of Opelika for a housemade craft ale. But don’t fret, because there are two spectacular Central Alabama breweries within eight miles of The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. Being that we’re only a short stroll from Toomer’s Corner, we welcome travelers from across the country every month – many of these guests enjoy exploring our local craft beer scene. And as one of the only luxury hotels near Auburn University, our talented staff has its pulse on the late-night, culinary, and craft beer scene. Without further ado, here are the best Alabama breweries in the area.

Red Clay Brewing Co.

Our neighbors to the northeast have two Central Alabama breweries, most notably Red Clay Brewing Co. Upon arrival, you’ll instantly notice the extra-large “Red Clay Brewing Co.” lettering along the exterior’s red brick wall. The interior has a welcoming, industrial allure with tin siding, tall fermentors, and that signature brick wall. Their simple yet unique logo looks particularly stylish in a goblet filled with a bright beer, such as a hefeweizen, saison, or Kölsch. We recommend pairing a spicy, wood-fired pizza with their traditional German hefeweizen.

Resting Pulse Brewing Company

Resting Pulse Brewing Company, the newest addition to the Auburn brewery family, opened their doors in April to rave reviews. These two breweries are just a one-minute walk from each other, which is a significant plus for “hopheads” aiming to drink two beers with one fell swoop. Being that Resting Pulse has only been open for a few months, they’ve brewed just seven beers. But we can’t help but gush about their juicy New England-style IPAs, particularly the Breathin’ Hazy. Resting Pulse’s downtown location adds an extra historical element to the experience, and the patio is perhaps the best in Opelika.
